The weld retains both tensile strength and toughness after being stress relieved by soaking at 1025‹F for 16 hours and then cooling at 200‹ F per hour. The weld can be made using a low hydrogen line-fluoride coated electrode, 45-80% of which is a mild steel core the remainder being a coating containing all the alloying metals. The coating comprises up to 30% iron and alloy metal powder, 2-7% deoxidizer metal powder, 4-15% metal fluoride, 5-15% alkaline earth carbonate, up to 10% slag builder and modifier and 0À5-8% inorganic binder material.
