A mould for making expanded plastics, e.g. polystyrene articles uses steam heating via perforations in the inner wall of the double sheel construction; to prevent condensate formed in the double wall from entering the expanded material these perforations are raised away from the plane of the internal wall. Pref., the back-faces of the inner shell of the double wall at the sides and top of the mould comprises horizontal or vertical, continuous or interrupted ribs or studs, which have the perforations passing through them. The depth of the ribs or studs is less than or may locally be equal to the cavity width of the hollow wall. |
