This technology pertains to an image processing device and image processing method which make it possible to accurately reproduce the blurriness caused by an optical lens. A light beam generation unit generates a light beam incident on a virtual lens in which a plurality of imaging units for capturing images from multiple perspectives are set as synthetic apertures, from a real space point inside a real space. A brightness allocation unit allocates brightness to the light beam that remains after performing a collision determination for determining whether a light beam will collide with an object prior to incidence on the virtual lens. This technology is applicable, for example, to a light-field technology for reconstructing an image captured by using various optical lenses from images taken from multiple perspectives. |
