Punched mica elements for discharge tubes - insulated by spraying with insulating suspension, and then dipping in insulating suspension

Punched mica elements for use in high voltage electrical discharge tubes are provided with an insulating layer by spraying with a suspension of insulating material, and then dipping in a suspension of insulating material. Specif. contg. 7-9 wt.% solids contg. 11-14 pts. Al(OH)2 and 1 pt. SiO2. Process gives a sufficiently thick insulating layer and the suspension penetrates into the narrow splits between the mica layers; thus discharges and leakages do not occur.
