1374825 Triazoles UPJOHN CO 7 Jan 1972 [9 Feb 1971] 00825/74 Divided out of 1374822 Heading C2C Compounds of the general formula (R = H, C 1 -C 3 alkyl ; R 2 -R 5 = H, F, Cl, Br, CF 3 , NO 2 , NH 2 , CN, C 1 -C 3 alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, alkylsulphinyl or alkanoylamino, di-(C 1 -C 3 alkyl)amino) are prepared by reacting a 2- chloro-4-phenylquinoline of the formula with hydrazine hydrate and cyclizing the resulting 2-hydrazino-4-phenylquinoline with a trialkyl orthoacylate. The product may be oxidized to a compound of the formula and the latter converted to its 3-oxime. The triazoloquinolines, aldehydes and oximes are sedatives and tranquillizers, and may be administered in the form of pharmaceutical or veterinary preparations or food premixes containing them in association with a carrier.
