Thin wall ceramic component - contains parallel orientation fibrous cordierite

Fired, thin wall, ceramic components contain fibrous cordierite which is preferentially orientated parallel to the main surfaces of the component. The ceramic pref. contains one MgO and one Al2O3 contg. raw matls. one of which must be a silicate and one fibrous. A slurry is made, filtered and fired. The parts have enhanced mechanical strength compared with conventional components of identical analysis.
