<p>A device comprising a thin liquid crystal layer (10) between a planar counterelectrode and control electrodes each defining a capacitor and a picture element with the counterelectrode, and being arranged such that each picture element corresponds to a row and a column. Each control electrode is connected to a control element such as a thin-film transistor which sets it at the potential of a conductor common to all the elements in the column to which it belongs, or isolates it and allows its potential to float. The counterelectrode consists of two fractions (201, 202) provided with devices for setting them at different potentials, and reversed at each frame or multiple of the frame frequency. Two adjacent columns (or two groups of a number of columns) of control electrodes interact with different fractions.</p> |
