Sill assembly for e.g. window frame - has generally U-shaped metal section at rear of concrete sill

The sill (24) can be made of concrete, plastic or other material. Its top surface (29) slopes towards the exterior. At the rear there is an upstanding lip (30) which engages a shaped section (19) which in turn is attached to the remainder of the wall around the window. The shaped section has three folds when viewed in cross section one of which (31) hooks over the lip on the sill. The ends of the metal section are closed and have bolt holes for the side members of the frame. The sill is bedded on a sealant. As an alternative the sill may consist of a metal profiled section.
