Araliphatic polymer films/fibres - by extruding solution prepared by reacting para-phenylene diisocyanate, and oxalic acid in aprotic, polar org solvent

Films and fibres e.g. for prodn. of cords in tires and belts, are produced by wet or dry extrusion of a soln. of a arylaliphatic polymer prepd. by reacting stoichiometrical amt. of p-phenylene diisocyanate and oxalic acid in the presence of an anhydrous, aprotic, polar org. solvent. Prods. have high tensile and high modulus of elasticity and good resistance to heat.
