Apparatus for controlling the automatic selection of sinkers in circular knitting machines

A circular knitting machine having a rotary cylinder in which a plurality of needles are mounted and a plurality of ground and plush loop sinkers each of the latter sinker type having an edge for forming plush loops. Each sinker is mounted to be associated with a respective one of the needles and movable into an operative position in cooperation with the associated needle to catch the yarn laid thereon. Patterning means are provided having a predetermined program for selecting one of said sinkers to be moved into operative position. Included are transmission means for transferring the program to the selected sinker. At least a portion of the transmission means is located within an axial groove in the needle cylinder.
