<p>Electric ventilator has a fan driven by an A.C. motor surrounded by a protective cage. A detector is connected to the protective cage which during contact with or during an approach by conducting parts such as human body parts generates a signal to a time switch. On receiving the signal from the detector the time switch remains activated for a period of time and controls the operation of a switch which can be changed from an A.C. current supply position to a D.C. current supply position with the latter braking the A.C. motor. The switch is an on/off switch bridged by a rectifier.</p>
