<p>1392625 Dry shavers PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 9 June 1972 [12 June 1971] 27072/72 Heading B4B A shaving head for a dry shaver comprises a cutting member 4 provided with a number of blades 3 adapted to be reciprocated in contact with a perforated shear foil 17, the cutting member being mounted on a coupling member 9 so that it is tiltable about an axis K parallel to the direction of reciprocation of the cutting member. The coupling member 9 is provided with a pair of brackets 10 formed with slots 15 in which a pin 14 (providing the axis K) is slidable; a pair of springs 11 act against the pin to maintain the blades in contact with the foil. The coupling member is formed with grooves 12 adapted to co-operate with balls 7 which roll in recesses 8 provided in the housing 5; the coupling member may be reciprocated by a vibrator motor or by a rotary motor via a crank-and-slot device. As shown in Fig. 3, the cutting edges of the blades have a substantially semi-elliptical shape so that when the cutting member tilts as a result of pressure against the face, the cutting edges of the blades follow substantially the same curve Fig. 6 (not shown) thereby preventing the shear foil from being excessively deformed.</p> |
