A pinion gear is mounted in and rotated by a chuck supported on a base. A rotating file is positioned adjacent the edges of the gear teeth and is steered relative to it during rotation of the gear from a suspended position whose orientation is varied by a reciprocating piston and cylinder arrangement. This allows the rotating file to deburr the teeth. The products of deburring are removed by a rotating brush which moves in and out of engagement with the pinion on a slide. Each pinion is rotated through 450 deg. to ensure a complete deburring and brushing cycle.
