1419901 Hydrocyanation process E I DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO 18 Jan 1974 [19 Jan 1973] 02368/74 Heading C2C Dinitriles are produced by hydrocyanating olefinically unsaturated mononitriles, e.g. 3- pentenenitrile and/or 4-pentenenitrile, in the presence of a catalyst comprising a zero-valent nickel complex of an organic phosphorus compound of the formula PZ 3 , wherein Z is a radical OR, R being an aryl radical having up to 18 carbon atoms, and a promoter, to obtain a product fluid which is heated after completion of the reaction at 90‹ to 175‹ C. to render the deactivated nickel catalyst species contained therein insoluble in the product fluid, and separating the insoluble nickel species therefrom.
