Low-grade fuels such as rubbish and refuse briquettes can be turned into high-grade power gas and/or fuel gas by a gasification process with a deficiency of air, followed by a gradually progressing complete combustion. The gases produced during the gasification process are passed through the combustible material during its after combustion and are finally discharged from the process. This system can be applied to a wide variety of raw materials, from domestic refuse and sewage sludge to waste prods. from refineries, rubber/plastic industries and coal or coke dust. This prevents environmental pollution and produces fuel gas suitable for gas turbines.
