A method of making a window from transparent thermoplastics in a metal component such as an aluminium cast window frame for use in a door consists of the following steps: closing the window opening by placing a metal closure plate tightly up against the metal frame, filling the space with granulated plastics, bheating the entire unit for the entire unit for the plastics to smelt, then cooling it until the plastics solidifies to form the window. A similar procedure is used for making a window of casting resin, but in this case heat is not required. An absolute watertight windown is produced in a very economic manner. Preliminary trimming operations to the metal and plastics at joints are not required. The temp. cycle ensures a tight connection between the plastics and the metal.
