Strength testing of cylindrical hollow bodies e.g. pipes - inside loaded with pressure medium to achieve stress state

A flexible hose (4) closed at one end is introduced into the hollow body and is filled with the pressure medium until the pressure corresponding to the required test strength is reached after it has been placed against the inside wall of the hollow body. The two ends of the hose are gripped in solid end covers (5) whose diameters are roughly the same as those of the pipe (2) for testing and the hose in its released condition. They project wholly or partly into the pipe. Connected to one of these covers is a delivery line (8), leading to the pressure medium storage vessel (13), with pressure gauge (9) and feed pump (12).
