The air intake manifold is divided into two sections before the filter. One section (21) receives cold air and the other (22) receives heated air. A diverter valve (20) controls the proportion of air from each supply. This valve is operated by a mechanical linkage from a diaphragm (23). The air passes through the filter (19) and over two sensors (30 and 31), which have bimetal strips controlling valves opening at different angles, before passing the throttle valve (17). A switch (26) is operated by a diaphragm (33) which senses the manifold air pressure so that one of the sensors is switched in circuit to control manifold pressure applied to the diaphragm (23). Thus manifold pressure controls the proportion of cold and hot air passed to the manifold.
|
