The floor space between the rear of the front seats and the front of the rear seats is filled with a thin walled, inflatable cushion (1) whose inflated shape is ensured by internal, flexible ribs. The lower cushion fits over the vehicle transmission tunnel, and when used in vehicles without a tunnel, the moulded, rigid container is shaped so that it can be placed in position in place of the tunnel. The cushion is easily inflated to take up the different shaped spaced in different vehicles.
