<p>The wing mirror is mounted in a shaped housing with ventilation holes (B) in the rear, to catch the slipstream. The mirror is pressed against the housing rim by an internal spring, and a number of ventilation slots around the rim lead the air-stream from inside the housing to over the surface of the mirror. In order to prevent icing in cold conditions, a heating coil (21) is positioned in the hollow housing above the air intakes. The coil can be operated by an automatic control or by a manual switch on the dashboard.</p> |
