The drive mechanism has a motor that rotates an arm in a forward or reverse direction or allows the drive to be disconnected. A particular application is for unloading bulk material from a silo or similar container. A shaft fits through the ratchet housing that can be moved to and fro. The ratchet is at the lower end of the shaft. An eccentric disc (14) is driven by a motor and is in a housing and an angled push rod (18) is held by a collar (17) fixed to the disc. The push rod has strings on each side of the collar and the movement of the eccentric disc effects reciprocating movement to the push rod. The ratchet support rod (34) is held in a setting by bolt (44) fitting in a deep slot (41).
