In a method of coaing a support or sheet with a liquid contg. an organic solvent the coating liquid is fed through a slit-type nozzle onto a coating roller revolving in the opposite direction to the motion of the sheet; te coating liquid is metered by a metering roller, revolving close to the coating roller and in the same direction, before it reaches the sheet. It reaches the sheet at a point where the sheet is supported by a backing roller. As the sheet travels onwards, the applied coating is trimmed in thickness by a scraper blade opposite a second backing roller. Used for applying a magnetic coating liquid (claimed). esp. for magnetic recoring sheets and esp. for highly viscous or thixotropic liquids. Method allows maintenance of dispersion and prevention of aggregation in the liquid. Smooth, uniform finish is obtd. at a high speed of application.
