The framework is made from long, inflatable, cylindrical tubes (64) which are joined together rigidly at node points by a hollow connecting piece onto which the tubes are secured by a screw nut. This connecting piece ensures distribution of gas pressure within the framework and can incorporate valves. All the joints are enclosed in joint cases (65) which encircle the ends of the tubes and the connecting pieces and are secured by leather straps and bolted gusset plates (42). The legs of the framework are held in cups with non-slip bases (67). The finished framework is covered by cloth sheets (66) tied to hooks (52) on the tubes.
