The electrostatic mineral separator has an earthed counter electrode formed by the upper part (1) of the housing inside which is positioned a set of parallel rotary high voltage electrodes (15). Each rotary electrode (15) has a stripper brush (19) mounted alongside. The materials is feed into the top, to fall down towards these electrodes. Underneath each electrode is a receiving compartment (18) made of non conducting material with a perforated partition (14) across the bottom of each, and below these is the silo compartment (10). Air is blown from an entry at one side to enter the space (13) under the perforated partitions to form a fluidised bed. At the end of the chamber opposite the feed end, is a delivery opening immediately above the level of the perforated partitions, and alongside which is an auxiliary electrode.
