<p>The fire fighting nozzle (11) is driven by two sets of gearing and electric motors. One set (15) positions the nozzles in the horizontal plane, the other (18) in the vertical. The nozzle is mounted on a large gear-wheel (23) and pivot (10). Both sets of gearing have spur gears and the nozzle is provided with adjustable stops (46 to 49) to give preset positions. At this position, in the horizontal plane, one gear is automatically moved out of mesh and the nozzle locked. In the vertical position, two free wheels (34, 35) are fitted, driven by the relevant motor (43). Depending on the required movement, one freewheel is always declutched.</p> |
