1498462 Release and oxidation of cholesterol EASTMAN KODAK CO 24 March 1975 [25 March 1974] 12204/75 Heading C2U [Also in Division G1] A cholesterol-fatty acid-lipoprotein complex in solution is converted to free cholesterol and fatty acid using a lipase and a protease and the cholesterol is oxidized to cholestenone using cholesterol oxidase, an aqueous test solution for use in the reactions comprising (a) a lipase having cholesterol esterase activity (defined), (b) a protease and (c) a cholesterol oxidase, the solution being buffered to a pH of 5À5 to 8À5, with as optional components a surfactant which may be deoxycholate, an octylphenoxy - polyethoxyethanol, a (paranonylphenoxy) glycerol or a polyethylene glycol.
