A method of extinguishing fires, caused by overheating or short circuiting of an element in an assembly of electronic components in an instrument room, incorporates using liquefied CO2 as a source of gaseous CO2 and expanding the gas adiabatically to 8-12 bars in a receiver, before directing it to an assembly on fire. Condensation of CO2 on electrical and electronic circuits and contraction of components due to sudden cooling are avoided. Such contraction can lead to breakage or change in mechanical characteristics.
|
