Textile pieces graded automatically into different sizes - by transferring longest of a bunch onto a conveyor and e.g. measuring length

Pieces of textile of different sizes are sepd. using e.g. clamps on a first conveyor to pick up several pieces of textile from e.g. a feed conveyor. As a pref. vertical run of the first conveyor advances the pieces hang vertically and the tower edge of the longest piece is engaged by e.g a clamp on a second conveyor. The size of the piece which is held by the clamp is measured and the second conveyor diverted by points along one of several tracks dependent on the measurement. The piece is then deposited into a collector. The method is used for sorting linen e.g. before calendering, pressing etc. Grading the pieces into different sizes is done automatically.
