Synthetic filaments having a low frictional coefft. are coated, before or after drawing, with a mixt. contg. >=20% w.r.t. solvent-free components, of a modified ethoxylate or propoxylate lubricant having formula RO-(CHR'-CH2O) -R" (where R is a branched or linear 11-22 (11-18)C aliphatic or araliphatic hydrocarbyl; R' = H and/or Me% R" is branched or linear 1-4C alkyl, halogen or 1-18C branched or linear acyl and n is 2 to 10). The treated filaments have a low frictional coefft. against guide devices and against one another. The frictional coefft. is unaffected by storage and heating. Filament dyeing properties are unimpaired.
