<p>The self-cleansing water-closet is for incorporation in portable sanitary units and re-cycles treated liquid waste for flushing purposes. The solid waste is retained in a filter bag (8) which may be emptied periodically, and a switch (22) - controlled battery (20) - operated pump (19) may be used to lift the liquid to the flushing inlet (18). The outlet (9) from the closet leads to the filter bag (8) which is installed in a tank (13) containing liquid disinfectant (14). The bag is supported on a grilled false floor (11) somewhat above the base (7) of the tank (13) and the flushing mechanism extracts disinfectant from the base of the tank. A two-way valve (23) may be sited in the flushing pipe down-stream of the pump (19), and may be used to divert flow into the discharge pipe (24) to empty the tank. The tank may include a drain tap (26). Inspection covers (17, 16, 21) give access to the filter sac (8) and the battery (20).</p> |
