Compounds of the formula I in which R is alkyl with 1-4 C atoms R1 is H2, H(OR3), O or ketalised O R2 is O, O, H(OR4) or ( alpha -alkyl) ( beta OR4), where the alkyl group contains 1-4 C atoms, and R3 and R4 are each a hydrogen atom or a protective group, and a double bond is present in position 4,5 or 5,6, are obtained by reacting a corresponding 11 beta -hydroxy oestrane compound with an acyl hypoiodite, reacting the resulting 11 beta -hydroxy-13-iodomethylgonane group, after protection of the hydroxyl groups, with an alkali metal C1-C4-alkyl compound or with dimethylformamide in the presence of an alkali metal C1-C4-alkyl compound, and treating the resulting compound with a proton donor, after which the resulting 18-carbaldehyde group is reduced or reacted with a Wittig reagent, and subsequently the resulting 18-alkenyl group is reduced and the hydroxyl groups are removed. <IMAGE> |
