The cylinder is esp. for hydraulic vehicle clutches and has a piston, movable within a hollow body, and connected to it via a deformable wall, to form and seal a hydraulic pressure chamber. The piston has a transverse ring-shaped guide surface. The guide surface (43, 44) is located within the hydraulic chamber (25). There is considerable free play between the guide surface of the piston (23) and the inner bore (12) of the hollow body (10). The free play is between 0.5% and 2% of the central transverse dimensions of the piston.
