<p>An endless belt for a conveyor or a roller elevator is intended esp. for transportation of hot prods. at >200 degrees C. The belt comprises metal elements on its outer side to carry the hot prods., and a flexible band, typically of rubber, elastomer, plastics etc., sepd. from the metal elements by air cushion to provide thermal insulation. The boundary layer between the flexible band and the air cushions may be either continuous or discontinuous. Used partic. for conveying hot prods. in blast furnaces steelworks, cement works, glass making palnt etc. The metal elements provide the necessary heat resistance, without difficulty, expense and slow movement associated with completely metal conveyor belts.</p> |
