<p>Compsn., used as an elastic jointing or filling material, is formed by mixing an elastomer contg. a vulcanising agent, and vermiculite, the latter forming 4-30% of the compsn. The compsn. pref. also contains a vitrifying agent. To obtain an impervious joint, the compsn., which is kept at a temp. below the vulcanisation temp., is placed in the crack or cavity to be filled, and then vulcanisation is carried out. The elastomer may contain a vulcanising agent such as 1,3-diethylthiourea which acts at ambient temp. over a period of time. The compsn. is then kept cold before its use.</p> |
