Device for welding plastics film comprises 2 superposed welding jaws 1 of which is stationary and the other mobile to effect an opening and closing motion w.r.t. the former. Either or both welding jaws is/are designed as single or multiple electromagnet(s). Arrangement combines low power consumption with trouble-free working. Reproducibly uniform welding pressure of the welding jaw is ensured.
