A steam iron has a water tank and a water valve with stem and metering rod section to direct water to the steam-generating sole plate. A thin stainless steel cup with a flanged rim overlies, the tank outlet duct and has an upwardly-domed bottom with a dome orifice. A separate floating centrally-apertured thin stainless steel scraper plate is located in a duct recess below the cup and the rod has two dias. The smaller scraping in the plate aperture and the larger the orifice. The distance between orifice and scraper plate is less than total valve travel so that both are simultaneously scraped and a scraped rod is always in a scraped orifice with the valve on for continuous accurate control.
|
