The present invention relates generally to monitoring audio signals to a group of artists when audio sources, i.e. the instruments used by the artists, generate those audio signals. The audio signals can be heared through an earphone, a headhone, or another type of ear monitor, for example, during music training or a live performance. The invention comprises a method for monitoring the audio signals through the ear monitor (101) coupled with a user equipment (102), such as a smart phone. The method aims to keep the latency of the ear monitoring on a low level because too long latencies would irritate the artists. The method comprises the following to be performed in a mixer (103) coupled with a multichannel transmitter (104): a) mixing according to a mixing command a first audio data and a second audio data resulting in sum data, wherein the first audio data is from a first audio source (105) and the second audio data is from a second audio source (106); b) packeting the sum data in accordance with a connectionless transmission protocol into at least one packet, each packet carrying a packet identifier; and c) transmitting the at least one packet through a channel of the multichannel transmitter to the user equipment (103). |
