<p>A measuring device is for the surface level of a fluid or other medium from a given point in a tank. A measurement probe is used with a scanner generating a signal when it touches the medium. It gives rapid accurate measurement and can be used for applications where manual access is restricted, e.g. for underground petrol tanks. A calibrated roller forms part of a transport system moving the probe vertically in the tank and coupling it to the recording circuits. Signals passing to the latter have frequency proportional to the vertical probe speed. A reference sensor produces a reference signal when the probe is at a defined upper position. The recording circuits produce a tank contents indication from reference, measurement, and contact signals.</p> |
