The pump has a driving shaft (6) running its entire length with a cam for each pump plunger. It has a casing (2) for each plunger which contains the operating parts for the pump assembly serving one engine cylinder. The casing ings (2) are separated by tubular distance pieces (3) surrounding the camshaft (6). The distance pieces are flanged (4) to the pump casings and of such length that the spacing (a) between pump casings (2) is the same as the engine cylinder spacing. This brings the outlet of each pump section directly in line with the injector (8) it serves and thus reduces the length of the connecting pipes (9).
