<p>A simple, rapid fitting snowchain for a car has a series of rigid loops held over the tread and spaed about the wheel. The loops are linked by one or two chains for lateral grip, set along the tread and by a tensioning cable along the side of the wheel. The ends of the chain are linked by a spring. The chain is fitted without having to lift the wheel off the ground and without having to reach behind the wheel. The lateral grip chains are secured to the loops by mounting plates and can incorporate grip teeth.</p> |
