Rotary drum bearing members - are runner rings each with concave inner surface bearing against convex faces of peripheral shoes

The supporting system for a rotary drum for e.g. a rotary furnace, kiln, dryer or cooler includers runner rings (6) around the drum (5), in contact with rollers underneath. Each ring can be supported by a number of shoes (13) having convex surfaces (12), the inside surface of the ring being correspondingly concave. The shoes are welded onto an intermediate strip forming part of the drum. In further designs, there are angle-section intermediate rings each side of the runner ring with their undersides curved to match the convex shoes. Further designs include an intermediate ring between the drum and the shoes, and making the runner ring in two, side-by-side portions.
