In filling electrolyte-permeable porous casing around the lead tubes of lead accumulator tube plates by forcing pasty active compsn., which contains a mixt. of Pb oxide, H2SO4 and excess H2O to reduce the viscosity, into the casing, the casing is first prepd. with a material (I), which wholly or partly seals and/or covers the pores, and then is filled with the active compsn. and made electrolyte-permeable again directly or indirectly. (I) can consist of a film, e.g. of CMC or fitted cover plates of elastic material, e.g. sponge rubber or silicone rubber. Material loss due to excessive liquid outflow is avoided and it is possible to fill long tubes completely, without the addn. of a flow aid to prevent premature setting of the plate. |
