The coffin lining forms an envelope inside the coffins, starting with a rectangular metal strip (1), on which a bead (2) is formed, running along one lengthwise edge, and at right angles to it. Notches (4-9) are cut in the bead at transverse lines, along which the strip is folded so as to fit against the coffin walls. A bottom, previously cut to shape, is fixed by its edges to the bead. There can be six notches in the strip, to form an irregular hexagon when folded, fitting inside a conventional coffin. The bead can form a groove in which a bent-over edge on the bottom fits. |
