<p>Method of transforming household waste into useful products capable of replacing sand, grit and gravel, is described in which the waste is crushed and metallic bodies are removed. Specifically waste is selected contg. at least 30 wt.% cellulose in various forms and this is reacted with quicklime and/or a Ca salt, and heated to an initial temp. of 250-450 deg.C to obtain a powdered product, which is then agglomerated under pressure with the aid of a binder into granules of various sizes. Claimed uses are as fillers for resins and silicates as well as artificial sands and gravels.</p> |
