<p>Methyleneaminosalicylate/tetracycline complex (I) is prepd. by reacting a methyleneaminosalicylic acid with a tetracycline in a solvent comprising 1,2-dimethoxyethane and/or methyl ethyl ketone. The complex (I) is obtd. in good yields, it does not have the disadvantages of the known method using methanol as solvent when the product has low bulk density, (I) is highly soluble. (I) is stable for a few hrs. in aqu-solns. and can be administered intravenously, orally or by other routes. It is pref. formulated with a diluent or excipient. The process is carried out by dissolving the two reactants in the solvent or by dissolving them separately and then mixing the two solns. (I) precipitates almost immediately and is filtered and direct.</p> |
