The platen according to the invention is preferably usable in movable paper carriages. With little outlay in terms of expenditure and technology, an effective sound-proofing is to be achieved by using damping materials which can be introduced automatically so that the filling operation can be incorporated without problems into the fully automatic production of the platens. The sound-proofing material used is a plastic self-adhesive stream either of a lubricating grease with a high dripping point or of a PVC moulding mass. <IMAGE>
