The device is intended to connect, in a frictionally locking manner, two structural parts which, when operating, are at an operating temperature which differs considerably from a mounting temperature and, at the said operating temperature, are to be held together at a predetermined tensioning force by means of at least one bracing element. In order to ensure uniform bracing of the structural parts without expensive mounting tools being necessary, the invention provides that, for the bracing element (6), use is made of a material, the mean expansion coefficient of which differs from the mean expansion coefficient of the material of the structural parts (2, 4; 3, 5) by such an amount that the tensioning force is adjusted at least largely automatically when the temperature changes from the mounting temperature to the operating temperature. The structural parts (2, 4; 3, 5) may, in particular, be portions of a vacuum housing of a superconducting magnet. <IMAGE>
