The terminating plug allows low fabrication costs by eliminating material wastage which occurs, for example, in the fabrication of screw-thread types. The plug is made in a two-stage operation by pressing a single flat metal blank. In the first stage, the blank is pressed into a hollow cylindrical shape (1) with a hollow hemispherical end (2). The material is of constant thickness all around its perimeter. Next the neck of the cylinder is compressed to form a narrowed section (3) with a conical, tapering mouth. This stage also forms an intermediate tapering section between the narrow and wider parts. The length of the narrowed section equals the length of bared wire. The wire is fixed to the plug by any conventional method such as crimping or soldering.
|
