A positive transmission of the drive force from the monorail conveyor drive to the rail is provided in particular in the case of the so-called European standard rails 140 E if the bottom flange in these rails is designed at the side like a toothed rack. By the formation of the toothed rack on or in the bottom flange of the conventional rail, it is possible to use these rails with the conventional rails without a toothed-rack design, since the same connecting elements are used in both. In addition, the rail enables drives to be used only with positive drive, for example via a rotating chain which engages in the teeth or tooth gaps in the bottom flange, or else combined drives of friction and positive drive. The effective area between the teeth or tooth gaps and the chain can be increased by the bottom flange of the rail being strengthened, though with the otherwise conventional dimensions of the rail retained. <IMAGE>
