The invention relates to the use of an ultrasonic transmitter to disturb animals which freely run, fly and swim around by the emission of ultrasonic signals in a broad frequency spectrum to which the animals are sensitive but react without pain. The invention has advantageous application in motor vehicles for scaring of wild animals at the moment a motor vehicle goes past, but it can also be used in a stationary mode as a bird scarer.
